The MCA Stadium was inaugurated on April 1, 2012, by Sharad Pawar, then ICC President. It hosted its first Ranji Trophy match in December 2011 between Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh. The venue debuted internationally with a T20I match between India and England in December 2012 and later gained approval for Test matches in 2015. Its first Test match was held in February 2017 against Australia.

- Virat Kohli’s Milestone: Kohli scored his 48th ODI century during the ICC World Cup match against Bangladesh on October 19, 2023.

- ICC World Cup 2023: Five matches of the tournament were held here, including India’s victory over Bangladesh.
